Two drunk men (Sean and Jack) are discovered in a fountain, the water surrounding them mingling with blood. The blood, Tripp discovers, isn't from either man. The men claim that they were at a bachelor party last night for their friend Charlie. Calleigh tracks down Charlie's fiancee (Kim), and Kim says she doesn't know where Charlie is. Kim also explains that Jack and Charlie were estranged friends who didn't speak for an entire year before the party. Kim dated Sean in the past but claims that she's in love with Charlie.

The two men are arrested for murder and brought in, and scopolamine was found in Sean's blood. Jesse explains that scopolamine can cause memory loss. He looks at a champagne bottle found at the fountain and wonders if there's scopolamine residue in it. Also, small flakes of green are found on the suspects' pants. The men are asked to take out everything in their pockets, and Jesse notices that one of the men has a stamp on his wrist from the Ciel Blu Hotel.

Horatio hears from Boa Vista that the blood samples taken from the fountain were contaminated because of the chlorine in the water, so they can't use it to ID the victim. The team go to Charlie's hotel room and find it turned upside down. There's a suitcase filled with bowling balls, and there's no evidence of Charlie. A pair of panties is found from a strip club named Club Perspire.

Calleigh and Jesse go to the club and speak to a stripper named Carmel. They ask her if she recognizes the two men accused of killing Charlie, and she recalls that Jack came in with Charlie. Later, Jesse talks to Sean and tells him that he knows that he wasn't at the strip club with Jack and Charlie, and whether he still loved Kim. Sean says that he did love Kim, but that was a long time ago and he was married now to a woman he wants to have kids with.

Calleigh finds video surveillance from the club and plays it. Horatio sees that Kim was also in the club at the same time as Charlie, right when Charlie was getting a lap dance from Carmel. Kim found out that Charlie lied to her about not going to a strip clulb and then she followed him inside. When she saw Charlie and Carmel go into a room together, she left for her parents' house.

Walter tries to remove a blood sample from a piece of paper found in one of the suspect's pockets, but takes a picture of the paper first since the chemicals used to lift the blood might also cause the ink to lift off too. Horatio figures out that the paper is a receipt for a bail bond. Tracking down the bondsman, they find out that Sean had to post bail after hotel developer Clay Bennett got him arrested. The bondsman shows Calleigh the check Jack used to bail out Sean, and the check is from Kim's father's account. Later, Kim explains that he gave the check as a wedding present to Charlie.

Horatio and Tripp go talk to Bennet. He claims that Charlie, Jack, and Sean crashed his party. Sean was the only one who got arrested because Jack and Charlie stole Bennet's limo and drove off with it. He says that he sent his security people to go find his car. The cops eventually find the car abandoned at the beach. Inside is the dead body of a man, one of Bennet's security team. Boa Vista discovers that the blood found in the fountain water was definitely not Charlie's.

Skin is found beneath the fingernails of the security guard, and also green flakes, like on the suspects. Walter thinks that the green flakes are chips of paint. The chips contain azurite, which is only found in older paints. Ryan returns with Walter to the hotel, believing that maybe James went back to hide the painting. On a wall is a painting of a deer. This painting also has azurite in the paint. After checking the painting, Walter discovers that it's actually a 20 million dollar Matisse which was reported stolen. Therefore, the painting was covered with another painting in order to hide its true identity to get it out of the country.

Horatio arrests Bennet for the theft of the Matisse, and Bennet confesses that the painting was in the limo which Jack and Charlie stole. Charlie is still nowhere to be found. At the station, the skin found under the security guard's fingernails is found to be from Jack and Sean, and cause of death is pinpointed as having his head shut in a car door. Jesse believes that the killer used his left hand to shut the door on the victim's head.

Jack and Sean, about to be released, are given forms to sign. Jesse sees that Jack is left-handed and then arrests the pair for murder. However, they still don't know what happened to Charlie. Since they can't remember what occurred the previous night, they worry that maybe they killed Charlie accidentally.

Tripp tells Jesse that Carmel is quitting being a stripper, and Calleigh and Jesse meet up with her at the club. Jesse goes through Carmel's purse, even though Calleigh points out that they don't have a search warrant. Jesse says he doesn't need one, and finds a small bottle of scopolamine. Carmel offers to give them as much information as she can in exchange for letting her go. She says that she was paid to bring Charlie into the back room, and he was taken away from there. Calleigh shows Carmel a picture of Bennet, but that wasn't the man she spoke to. It was Kim's father who paid her off.

Kim and her father are brought into the station, and her father says that after he heard about Charlie going to the strip club, he gave Charlie a blank check in exchange for keeping away from Kim. He says he took Charlie and put him on a boat, which he launched out to sea. A rescue team tracks Charlie down, and he and Kim are reunited.
